Young Eagles: The Spirit of Aviation

If this Piper Cub looks like the stuff dreams are made of then you and Cavan are of like minds. June 2014 not only marked the end of 6th grade but also (and if you ask Cavan, more epic) the first time he flew a real, live airplane. Not bad for an 11 year old.

While visiting Jeanie and Pop in Easton, Pop had the swell idea of contacting a pilot friend to see if he'd be up for taking a Tween airplane lover for a quick spin. Little did that Tween know he was about to have the experience of a lifetime.

Pilot Hunter Harris gave Cavan a flight training lesson and introduced him to the EAA Young Eagles program. Once in the air, Hunter turned the controls over to Cavan and set off on a 45 minute air adventure. Back on the ground, Cavan was given his very own flight log that details his first amazing voyage.

And voila! A Young Eagle is born! Thanks Pop for making a Tween dream come true! xx

El Senor Bunny.

Imagine Lulu's surprise when the Easter bunny showed up at our friend's house for Easter. I guess he had some time to relax after delivering Easter baskets that morning. Lulu descended upon him and thanked him over and over and over for her basket. As Grandma said, "treasure these innocent moments." She truly believed that this guy was the one responsible for the morning's bounty. Its good to believe in magic. xx

Baseball season in full swing.

And the catcher is ready for action. xx

Our little herb gardener.

This weekend the weather Gods decided to grace us with some nice weather. Lulu and I took advantage of the sun and paid a visit to the flower district to pick up some herbs. She was such a great helper, pulling her gardening gloves on and getting straight to work planting them in the zinc tub Jeanie and Pop gave us for our garden. We're hoping for a great crop of fresh herbs that daddy can use for cooking. xx

Queen Elsa.

Nearly every little girl we know is prancing around pretending to be Queen Elsa from the Disney movie Frozen. I, for one, find myself up at 3am with the songs from the movie playing in a constant loop in my brain. Not so great. But its so cute to see Lulu dressing up and using the beautiful blanket my aunt JoAnne made for her. It has become her "Elsa cape." I think it works quite nicely!

Artist of the Week.

Lulu is the Artist of the Week in her Pre-K class. Each week a child gets their own canvas and has three days to create their masterpiece. When everyone has had their turn, all the artwork will be featured in the class "gallery."
