This week we reached yet another milestone...sitting up. It's been a week full of accelerated development from holding the bottle on her own and sitting up, to experimenting with new sounds and grabbing her toes. A fascinating process to watch. Two parents (and a swelling with pride Big Brother) couldn't be more smitten.
And for all you music lovers...a little Stevie Wonder.

Hot Mess
The only time in your life when food running down your chin is considered charming. Live it up Miss Lu.
Happy Birthday to Daddy!
Mommy wrapped them, Big Brother Cavan handed them out and I helped Daddy with the fun part. I can't wait for MY birthday!

March 19th, 1973
Piled the family in the Charger, cranked "Killing Me Softly" and took our place in line at the gas pump. Made it home in time to see Billy Jean King kick Bobby Riggs' ass. Helluva day.
There are simply no words.
To describe the feeling you get when you come home after an hour and a half morning walk along the East River with your family and you discover a moment like this was captured is simply impossible. Cuteness overwhelms.
Lulu's 1st Swing....
...well, really the second. About three minutes before this happy snap, an over zealous Mommy and Daddy shoved this poor little girl into one of the toddler swings at the park. Toddler swing, not infant swing. Everything was going well until we actually tried to make her swing, at which point she bonked her head and let the tears roll. Nice work, Mom and Dad. Good...excellent...really.

Fat Fat Water Rat
Our little buddha gets cuter, happier and, um, fluffier (to quote Grandma Owings) every day. This pic just does NOT do her amazing legs justice. They are simply delicious. Squishy, fat and yummy. Cutest damn things we've ever seen!

Dancing on the Ceiling
It's quiet. And just when you're congratulating yourself on successfully getting the baby down to sleep, you creep in to take a peek and see.....maryjane socks tapping to the beat of the rhythm of the night. A dancing queen in training.
Five Tiny Trees for Five Tiny Grandchildren
Over the weekend in Denison, TX five tiny redbud trees were planted in honor of Linda and Tom Owings' grandchildren Cavan, Rowan, Raley, Donny and Lulu. The trees were a gift for Grandpa Tom's birthday and we know that under his watchful eye and loving care they will grow into strong, healthy and happy little beings just like their namesakes. Rock on little saplings.

Love My Grandma!
But still hate rice cereal. So please Grandma, I look forward to your next visit but please feed me something that doesn't taste like wallpaper paste.

Party Pooper
Nothing like a dirty diaper to cramp your style just as things are getting exciting. Yes, 2010 got off to a grand start.

Doing His Part
In addition to donating $5 from his allowance to the Red Cross, Cavan decided to create "Help Haiti" posters to put up around the neighborhood. He worked hard making a stack of them during the George Clooney telethon and this morning we went around and posted them. Very proud of this little dude.

One Of These Things Is Not Like The Other
If I am very still and very quiet and just try to blend in maybe they won't notice that I'm on the bed. -PMac

Cavan may be the Power Ranger, but Grandma is our super hero. Cavan just scored this super awesome early Christmas gift which came via USPS from Denison, TX this morning. Thank you Grandma, you rock!

Cavan Loves Lulu
This little girl has no idea how much she's loved by her awesome big brother. Cavan took time out of his busy Thursday morning to give his sister a snuggle before heading off to school. I can't think of a better way to start the day.

Bird Feeding
Big Brother Cavan (aka "The Bird") gave his Little Sister Lulu (aka "The Hippo") a bottle for the first time this past weekend. He is so helpful and loving and takes his job very seriously (even if his arm does get "tired" a little too quickly). I love my kids.

Giving new meaning to the term "Air Guitar"
And the Halloween costume keeps rearing it's ugly (but, very cute) head. You've got to admit that he's got something going with the whole acoustic glam rock thing.

One From The Vault.
I dug this one out of the dusty old trunk in the attic last night. It's one of my all time favorite memories...teaching Cav how to drive the tractor on the farm. We spent at least an hour every morning that trip two summers ago moving dirt with that big old front end loader. Good stuff.

Bend It Like Big Brother

In addition to basketball and swimming, Cavan is playing soccer this year and is getting really good (i.e. actually listening to his coaches). Before the kids on the "Kickers" team hit the field at the East River park this morning Cavan showed me some of his mad skillz. I was impressed. And not just cause I'm his mom.

The Most Awesomest Big Brother on the Planet.
Cavan rocks! This kid, RIGHT HERE, is the best big brother in the world. Every time Lulu gets within an inch of him, he tells her how cute and wonderful she is. Even when she is bawling her eyes out, he's doing whatever he can to soothe and comfort her. To make her laugh. He made us laugh with this one. He's the best!
It's official.
Now she, like the rest of us, can answer to The Man. Funny, though. I came home Thursday night and saw this on the kitchen table. An overwhelming sense of PROUD came over me. About 3 years after we came up with how to put them together, those 18 letters are living, breathing, and printed in three words on a flimsy little card Uncle Sam paid $.42 to send us. We'll get her to sign it later.

Ten Years and 4 Dozen Cupcakes From My Former Self
If you'd told me ten years ago I'd be baking 4 dozen cupcakes for a bake sale at my 7-year-old son's school while my 3-week-old daughter napped I'd have spit my straight-up-dry-and-dirty martini out on your shoes.

Rock 'till ya drop!
OMG! Henry came over again last night and we rocked until midnight. He is sooooo cool! Michael, Nikki, Marianne, Coby, Dad, and Mom ate some sausagey pasta thing while Henry and I hung out and looked cool for each other. I've decided that he looks like Vin Diesel. So CUTE!
